Early in the morning, Mr. Yem Theng rises quickly from his bed to prepare for his daily routine, driving his vehicle to pick up factory workers and transport them to their workplace. This has been his regular occupation. Besides transporting workers, Mr. Theng is also a vendor selling "chap houy" desserts, operating in Trapeang Buon Village, Svay Commune, Samaki Meanchey District, Kampong Chhnang Province.
Mr. Theng mentioned that while his family's living conditions were stable, he saw an opportunity to increase his income and grow his business further. To achieve this, he sought financial support from a trusted partner to expand his grocery-selling business. Through social media, he learned about LOLC Cambodia. After receiving clear information from LOLC Cambodia’s staff, he decided to take out a loan to meet his business expansion needs. To date, he has taken four loan cycles in total.

Mrs. Sreya is currently a vendor selling grocery and beverages (such as coconut juice, sugarcane juice, and various canned drinks), with her business located in Roboah Angkanh Village, Preaek Aeng Commune, Chbar Ampov District, Phnom Penh. She lives with her husband, Som Chanthy, and their two children, a son and a daughter.
Mrs. Sreya shared that she was dissatisfied with her previous living conditions, as her limited income did not allow her to expand her business. As a result, she started considering ways to generate additional revenue. Initially, she only sold beverages like coconut juice, sugarcane juice, and canned drinks. However, after careful consideration and receiving financial support from LOLC Cambodia, she decided to expand her business by adding grocery selling. This support enabled her to set up her selling location and purchase more supplies to start her new business.
With a bright smile, Mrs. Sreya revealed that she has taken out two loan cycles form LOLC Cambodia. In 2021, she applied for $6,000 to start a new business, and in 2024, she used an additional $1,000 to help it grow. Her efforts paid off, and her business has since grown significantly, leading to increased income, well beyond her initial savings.
From a garment factory worker, Mrs. Roeun Thoeun has created opportunities for herself by transitioning to a grocery store owner, which has significantly improved her livelihood.
Mrs. Thoeun is a grocery seller in Prek Tnaot Village, Tangsya Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, and currently lives with her husband, who is a wedding chair delivery man and a daughter.
Although her business is already running, Mrs. Thoeun has been considering ways to further grow her business. To strengthen it, she explored the loans offered by LOLC Cambodia after being introduced by acquaintances in her village. Once she fully understood the loan conditions, she quickly seized the opportunity to expand her business, which has continued to grow to this day.
Mrs. Thoeun shared her experience, explaining that she has taken out two cycles of loans from LOLC Cambodia to buy more supplies for her grocery business, and used part of the loan to renovate her home, improving her living conditions. “I am truly happy to have my own business, which provides regular income to support my family. Moreover, I have enough time to take care of my child and live in my own home more comfortably than before,” said Mrs. Roeun Thoeun.
